Join the Wyoming Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-WY) for a half-day ethics intensive before the start of the Wyoming Counseling Association Fall Conference. This interactive training will explore ethical decision-making, current issues in behavioral health practice, and practical strategies for navigating complex ethical dilemmas. Participants will strengthen their understanding of professional ethics while earning 4 continuing education (CE) credits. This pre-conference intensive is open to counselors, social workers, and other behavioral health professionals interested in enhancing their ethical practice.

  • Alex Petrino, MS, NCC, LCPC, LPC
    Alex is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and EMDRIA-trained clinician with extensive experience serving individuals, families, and communities across Wyoming and the Mountain West. She provides EMDR therapy and integrates trauma-informed, person-centered approaches throughout her clinical work. In addition to clinical practice, Alex is a counselor educator teaching graduate-level courses for the University of Wyoming–Casper and is actively involved in statewide and national advocacy related to mental health access, professional counseling standards, and education policy. She currently serves as President-Elect of the Western Region of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and is a frequent presenter on advocacy and activism in counseling, LGBTQ+ affirming care, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), equipping counselors with practical, evidence-based strategies to better serve diverse communities.

    Amanda DeDiego, PhD, LPC, NCC, BC-TMH is an Associate Professor of Counseling at the University of Wyoming. She has a PhD in Counselor Education from the University of Tennessee and holds a MS in Community Counseling from the University of North Georgia.

    Beth Johnson, MA, LPC, NCC, EMDRIA Certified Therapist, is a clinical leader and educator with over a decade of experience specializing in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and grief counseling. She has held diverse leadership roles, including Clinical Director and Training Director for the Colorado 988 Suicide Prevention Lifeline, as well as leadership and clinical positions within community mental health and nonprofit organizations. Beth spent more than six years living abroad in Japan as an educator, gaining valuable cross-cultural insight that continues to inform her clinical perspective and approach to healing. She is recognized for her ability to translate complex clinical concepts into practical, actionable interventions and strategies. Her work has focused extensively on supporting healthcare professionals, first responders, and individuals experiencing complex trauma. Building on this foundation, Beth’s recent clinical work centers on the profound impact of grief and loss. She supports individuals navigating significant life transitions and complex bereavement through a trauma-informed, nervous system–focused lens.     Brenda Stephens, LPC, is a licensed professional counselor, author, speaker, and trauma therapist specializing in narcissistic abuse recovery, complex trauma, and relational abuse. She is the founder of a group practice, The Trauma Recovery Collaborative and the Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Center, where she provides therapy, support groups, clinical training, and educational resources for survivors and mental health professionals. Brenda integrates EMDR, Internal Family Systems, somatic approaches, and nervous system regulation into her clinical work. She is the author of Recovering from Narcissistic Mothers: A Daughter’s Guide, The Narcissism Recovery Workbook: Skills for Healing from Emotional Abuse, and Reclamation: A Shadow Work Workbook for Survivors of Narcissistic Abuse.     Bryon Lee is a school counselor at Laramie High School with two decades of experience working with youth and families.     CPT Ciera R. Nicholson, PhD, is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Health Psychology Resident at Tripler Army Medical Center. She is a recent doctoral graduate of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and has served on active duty in the U.S. Army since 2014. Prior to her transition to clinical psychology, CPT Nicholson served as a Signal Corps officer, holding key leadership positions including Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Battalion S1 Officer-in-Charge. Her operational experience informs her clinical approach, particularly in understanding the intersection of performance, leadership, and behavioral health within military contexts. Since earning her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2013, CPT Nicholson has worked extensively in cognitive performance enhancement and resilience training across both military and professional sport settings.     Cori McAdams, MS, LPC, is a Northern Arapaho licensed professional counselor and founder of Blue Plume Counseling & Consulting, LLC, a private practice based in Riverton, Wyoming. She earned her Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Wyoming-Casper in 2019. Prior to forming her practice, Cori served as a mental health therapist at Wind River Family & Community Healthcare, a tribal clinic serving federally recognized tribes, where she provided mental health services to individuals of all ages — from young children to elders. While her clinical experience spans the full lifespan, her preferred population has always been children and their families. As a Northern Arapaho clinician practicing within her own community, Cori brings a dual perspective that is both professionally grounded and deeply personal.

  • Daniel Champer
    Daniel currently serves as the Director of Clinical and Residential Services for Florence Crittenton Family Services in Helena, Montana. A farm kid from Ohio, Daniel believes in hard work partnered with care and nurture. He has worked for over 15 years in the mental health field and has served as a direct care staff, therapist, clinical supervisor, and clinical director in programs specializing in lockdown residential treatment, sex offender treatment, group home care, school-based services, and outpatient services. He earned his Masters of Arts in Counseling from Waynesburg University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Daniel specializes in childhood development and complex trauma work throughout the life stages.  He is passionate about digging in and coming alongside the tough and complicated situations that so many experience.  He and his wife stay busy after work chasing seven children and a variety of farm animals in an attempt to live simply but fully.

  • Greg Searls
    Greg Searls is the Executive Director of the Counseling Compact Commission. He is a licensed funeral service practitioner in Wyoming, beginning his regulatory career in 2010 when appointed by the Governor to the Board of Funeral Service Practitioners. In 2016, he transitioned to an Executive Director role within the Wyoming Professional Licensing Board office. Throughout his tenure, Greg has served as the Executive Director for various boards, including the Mental Health Professions Licensing Board, Board of Registration in Podiatry, Board of Midwifery, Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, Board of Hearing Aid Specialists, Board of Athletic Trainers, and Board of Occupational Therapy. During his leadership, Wyoming enacted statutes to join the ASLP-IC, Occupational Therapy Compact, and Counseling Compact. He initially served as the ex-officio representative to the Counseling Compact Commission for AASCB until Wyoming joined the compact, at which point he was appointed commissioner. Greg holds a bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Science and a certificate in Gerontology from Gannon University, as well as an Associate’s Degree in Specialized Funeral Service Technology from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He co-authored the article "Counseling and the Interstate Compact: Navigating Ethical Practice Across State Lines," published in The Professional Counselor in the fall of 2023.

    Heidi Edmunds is a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Bend Mind and Body Solutions in Torrington, Wyoming. With nearly 20 years of experience across clinical, residential, educational, and telehealth settings, she provides trauma-informed, integrative care for adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her approach blends cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and solution-focused strategies with person- and body-centered work to create practical, sustainable change. Heidi holds a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Wyoming and previously served in executive leadership at Eastern Wyoming College, bringing both clinical and systems-level insight to her work. In addition to her professional expertise, Heidi brings lived experience as a woman with ADHD and as a parent of children with ADHD. She is passionate about reducing shame, strengthening families, and equipping counselors with clear, actionable tools to support neurodivergent clients.

    Jacob Stotler is a mental health professional, entrepreneur, and community advocate serving communities throughout Nebraska and Wyoming. As the owner and operator of a behavioral health clinic, he provides counseling, consultation, and specialty mental health services to individuals and families while working to expand access to quality care across the region. Throughout his career, Jacob has gained experience in community mental health, state facilities, and institutional settings, developing a broad understanding of the challenges individuals face when navigating behavioral health and recovery systems. His work is guided by a commitment to professionalism, ethical practice, and patient safety. He believes that protecting the well-being of those receiving care is among the highest responsibilities of any healthcare professional and organization. In addition to his clinical work, Jacob is an entrepreneur with interests in business development, organizational leadership, and healthcare innovation. He continually seeks opportunities to strengthen mental health services, improve clinical quality, and build sustainable systems that support both clients and providers.     Joe Mireles is a provisionally licensed counselor in Wyoming whose work is grounded in a lifelong commitment to connection, resilience, and belonging. His clinical perspective is informed by more than two decades of experience supporting children, families, and communities through relationship-centered work in education, mentorship, and advocacy across Florida, California, and Wyoming. Throughout his career in education, Joe developed and implemented programs focused on bullying prevention, support for at-risk youth, and creating more inclusive and connected school communities. He holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and recently completed his master’s degree in community mental health counseling at the University of Wyoming, integrating a systems-focused understanding of education with a humanistic, experiential approach to counseling. Joe’s clinical interests include early childhood mental health, supporting children with significant emotional and behavioral needs, and helping couples strengthen their relationships through meaningful therapeutic work. He launched the Wyoming Mental Health Network (WY-MHN), a statewide initiative designed to foster connection, collaboration, and mutual support among mental health professionals.     Lexi is currently a school counselor at Manor Heights Elementary School in Casper, Wy. She previously worked as an elementary school counselor at a different school in Casper, Wy. Before that, she was an elementary school teacher in Casper, Wy as well. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education from the Valley City State University in 2015 and her M.S. in School Counseling from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2021. She is a major advocate for licensed school counselors doing school counseling! Lexi grew up in Casper, Wyoming and enjoys spending time with family, watching sports, and connecting with people. She is married with one amazing and energetic son, and one on the way! Lexi also loves to play games and be competitive! She's always up for a challenge and willing to try just about anything as long as fun is guaranteed!

  • Lindsay Simineo, MA, LPC
    Since 2017, Lindsay Simineo has been working in public policy at federal, state, and local levels to further and promote the interests of behavioral health across Wyoming. During that time, Lindsay has worked on licensing standards, new certifications for professionals, criminal justice reform, mental health and telehealth parity, collaborative care, as well as working with vulnerable populations. In 2022, Lindsay identified that more mental health organizations needed to be involved in the legislative process and for several reasons, did not have the capacity to be. It is through her determination to build statewide efforts, and the hard work of the Board of Directors that the Wyoming Behavioral Health Alliance came to be. ​ Lindsay has received recognition over the years, being the recipient of the 2020 American Counseling Association State Branch Award, the 2023 Wyoming Counseling Association award for Human Rights, and is a 2023 Alumni of Leadership Wyoming. ​ Lindsay holds a Bachelors of Social Work degree from the University of Wyoming, and a Masters of Arts in Counseling from Denver Seminary. She currently holds her professional counseling license and continues to work in private practice in Cheyenne. She has called Wyoming home most of her life and is happy to share Wyoming with her husband and two children.

    Lisa Kurth, Ph.D., MSCP, is a veteran clinical health psychotherapist of over 4 decades, and a Certified Brain Injury Specialist. Her private practice is in Fort Collins, CO.., and she is licensed in CO. & WY., providing both in-person and tele-health services. She has clinical expertise in assessing & treating individuals diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury and related co-morbidities, and works with individuals involved in personal injury cases. She also specializes in assessing & treating children & adults diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD & high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Kurth is Adjoint Clinical Professor of Pediatrics (Developmental Section) at University of Colorado School of Medicine, Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, Colorado. She is Harvard trained in Coaching Principles of Lifestyle Medicine. A published, NIH researcher with ECHO (Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes), she studies perinatal exposures and childbirth dynamics which may confer risks to challenging child neurodevelopmental conditions. Also a naturalist, author, and a visual artist, Dr. Kurth specializes in nature photography which depicts a fresh and colorful impression of the wilderness. Her affinity for nature provides balance to her scientific work and calls her back to places in the wild she visits often, including high altiitude locations throughout Wyoming.

    Mike Hotz is a Marine veteran, correctional mental health professional, behavioral health advocate, and founder of Semper Fi Counseling, a developing rural behavioral health initiative focused on supporting individuals living with serious mental illness. Drawing from years of experience working with justice-involved and high-risk populations, Mike has dedicated his work to advancing trauma-informed care, resilience-based interventions, suicide prevention, and community-centered behavioral health solutions. His professional focus centers on the unique challenges faced by individuals navigating incarceration, trauma, addiction, severe mental illness, and reintegration into society—particularly within underserved rural communities. Mike’s work emphasizes practical mental health strategies that strengthen resilience in both clients and providers. His approach combines real-world correctional mental health experience, leadership principles developed through military service, and a strong commitment to restoring dignity, structure, and long-term support for vulnerable populations. He is also the author of Beyond the Metal Door, a work exploring the realities of incarceration, trauma, mental illness, and personal transformation within correctional environments. Through Semper Fi Counseling, Mike is actively working to develop innovative residential and community-based behavioral health programs designed to provide safe, supportive environments for individuals with serious mental illness while strengthening rural behavioral health systems across Wyoming and surrounding communities.   • Rachel L. Prokop, PsyD
    Rachel L. Prokop, PsyD, is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Health Psychology Fellow at Tripler Army Medical Center, where she is engaged in advanced specialty training utilizing a scholar–practitioner model grounded in contemporary, evidence-based biopsychosocial interventions. She has served nearly a decade on active duty in the U.S. Army, including appointments as the sole Active-Duty Psychologist at Lyster Army Health Clinic and as the Brigade Behavioral Health Officer for the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, providing consultation to command teams, conducting comprehensive psychological and aeromedical evaluations, and delivering clinical services across operational and garrison environments. She completed her internship and residency at Brooke Army Medical Center. Dr. Prokop’s clinical and instructional portfolio includes aeromedical psychology, health psychology, trauma-focused interventions, and the training of aviation and medical personnel in stress, fatigue, and behavioral health readiness.

    Rebecca Kuhbacher M.Ed. is an ADHD and Executive Function Coach, educator, speaker, and founder of 307 ADHD. A former National Board Certified Teacher and department head, she specializes in helping parents, adolescents, college students, and adults build practical systems that strengthen executive functioning, improve communication, and create lasting behavior change. Drawing from thousands of hours of direct coaching, Rebecca translates complex concepts about ADHD, motivation, and executive functioning into practical strategies families can implement immediately. Her work helps families move beyond reactive correction by combining practical systems, accountability, and strengths-based strategies that foster connection, resilience, and lasting change. Rebecca also draws on her own experience as a mother of four in an ADHD household. That perspective shapes how she works: combining the science of ADHD with each family's unique strengths, challenges, and capacity for change to create practical strategies they can implement immediately. She is driven to help families trade shame, overwhelm, and constant correction for connection, confidence, and strategies that actually fit the way the ADHD brain works.

She currently works for Natrona County School District as a school-based therapist and maintains a private practice providing services through telehealth. Sheri enjoys helping others make sense of complex ideas and creating engaging learning experiences that encourage thoughtful discussion and practical application. She is especially interested in the places where research, clinical practice, and real life intersect—because practice has a way of presenting situations that are often messier than textbook examples.

  • Stacy Nation, MSW, BCD, LCSW
    Stacy Nation, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, trauma-informed educator, speaker, and Behavioral Health Officer in the Wyoming Army National Guard. She has worked with children, families, high-stress systems, and military-connected individuals for more than two decades. Since joining the Wyoming Army National Guard in 2013, Stacy has served in behavioral health roles supporting Soldier readiness, deployment, reintegration, and emotional well-being, including supporting more than 500 Soldiers during Operation Spartan Shield. Stacy brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, military experience, and trauma-informed practice to her work. She specializes in helping professionals understand the nervous system, build trust with people who have experienced hard things, and create safety before expecting insight, disclosure, or change. Her teaching style is practical, engaging, story-informed, and rooted in the belief that healing begins with understanding—not judgment. Stacy has been in private practice for 20 years, specializing in PTSD and Developmental Trauma Disorder. She practices in Wyoming, Colorado, and Montana.

    With her experience as an educator, regulatory board member, therapist, author and inspirational speaker, Dr. Susan makes reviewing ethical protocols interesting, engaging, and relevant. Dr. Susan has a rich background in ethics and integrity which created the foundation for Ethics Rock! She has served as chair for the Nebraska Board of Mental Health Practice, elected President of the American Association of State Counseling Boards, appointed to the Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Boards Telehealth Committee, and served on the Board of Directors for the Federation of Associations of Regulatory Boards.

Policies

Refunds and Cancellation Policy
Registration cancellations received on or before September 15 are eligible for a refund, less a $25 administrative processing fee.

No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after September 15, including for no-shows, partial attendance, or failure to attend the conference.

If the Wyoming Counseling Association must cancel the conference due to unforeseen circumstances, registrants will receive a full refund of registration fees. The Association is not responsible for reimbursement of travel, lodging, or other incidental expenses incurred by attendees.

Registration substitutions are permitted through September 25. Requests for substitutions or cancellations must be submitted in writing via email to the Wyoming Counseling Association.

By registering for the conference, attendees acknowledge and agree to this refund and cancellation policy.
Continuing Education (CE) Certificate Policy

The Wyoming Counseling Association (WCA) provides continuing education (CE) certificates for eligible participants who meet all conference attendance and evaluation requirements.

It is the responsibility of each licensed professional to accurately, ethically, and securely maintain their own continuing education records in accordance with the requirements of their licensing board or credentialing organization. WCA is not responsible for maintaining CE records on behalf of attendees or for providing replacement certificates indefinitely.

CE certificates will be available through your CE-Go account for a limited period. While CE-Go serves as a convenient repository, attendees should not rely on the platform as their permanent record-keeping system. We strongly encourage participants to download and save copies of all CE certificates immediately upon issuance and to maintain their own electronic and/or printed records for future licensure, certification, or audit purposes.

Questions regarding conference attendance or CE certificate issuance should be submitted to WCA within a reasonable timeframe following the conference.

Technology

1. This virtual event will be hosted via Zoom Webinar, and you may be prompted to download or upgrade your Zoom app if using a mobile device. A strong WiFi connection will be required for best quality.


2. We recommend clicking your "Join Webinar" button early and checking that your speakers are on before the event begins. Please do not worry about being seen or heard! Attendee video feeds and mics are turned off by default when entering a webinar. You will be able to ask questions via the Q&A feature.


3. Please respect that no copying, recording, or distribution of live session content is allowed. CE's are provided for the "live" sessions only. CE's will not be available for the recordings.
