CPT Ciera R. Nicholson, PhD, is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Health Psychology Resident at Tripler Army Medical Center. She is a recent doctoral graduate of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and has served on active duty in the U.S. Army since 2014.
Prior to her transition to clinical psychology, CPT Nicholson served as a Signal Corps officer, holding key leadership positions including Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Battalion S1 Officer-in-Charge. Her operational experience informs her clinical approach, particularly in understanding the intersection of performance, leadership, and behavioral health within military contexts.
Since earning her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2013, CPT Nicholson has worked extensively in cognitive performance enhancement and resilience training across both military and professional sport settings. Her clinical and instructional portfolio includes sport and exercise psychology, performance optimization, resilience training, child and adolescent psychology, trauma-focused interventions, suicide prevention and intervention, and sexual harassment/assault response and prevention.
