Mike Hotz is a Marine veteran, correctional mental health professional, behavioral health advocate, and founder of Semper Fi Counseling, a developing rural behavioral health initiative focused on supporting individuals living with serious mental illness.
Drawing from years of experience working with justice-involved and high-risk populations, Mike has dedicated his work to advancing trauma-informed care, resilience-based interventions, suicide prevention, and community-centered behavioral health solutions. His professional focus centers on the unique challenges faced by individuals navigating incarceration, trauma, addiction, severe mental illness, and reintegration into society—particularly within underserved rural communities.
Mike’s work emphasizes practical mental health strategies that strengthen resilience in both clients and providers. His approach combines real-world correctional mental health experience, leadership principles developed through military service, and a strong commitment to restoring dignity, structure, and long-term support for vulnerable populations.
He is also the author of Beyond the Metal Door, a work exploring the realities of incarceration, trauma, mental illness, and personal transformation within correctional environments.
Through Semper Fi Counseling, Mike is actively working to develop innovative residential and community-based behavioral health programs designed to provide safe, supportive environments for individuals with serious mental illness while strengthening rural behavioral health systems across Wyoming and surrounding communities.
